Joint & Muscle Massage Gel (500ml)
Our therapeutic Joint & Muscle Massage Gel is blended with Aloe Vera, Seaweed, Black Pepper, Lavender and Plai essential oils to soothe problems associated with the musculoskeletal system.
Aloe Vera contains glycoproteins that are thought to be beneficial in reducing pain and inflammation.
Seaweed has long been used to treat sore muscles and joints. It was traditionally used in steam baths by Native Americans and is still used today in thalassotherapy treatments for problems such as rheumatism, arthritis and muscle pain.
Black Pepper essential oil has rubefacient properties that warm the skin and increase blood flow. It is a popular oil to use for muscle pain, stiffness and fatigue as well as rheumatic and arthritic pain.
Lavender essential oil is well known for its soothing, anti-inflammatory, pain relieving properties. It also works to enhance the therapeutic properties of the other oils.
Plai essential oil is commonly used in Thai Massage and is thought to be one of the best aromatherapy oils for soothing pain and inflammation.
Our Joint & Muscle Massage Gel can be used before a work out to warm and stimulate the muscles, and after a workout, to ease tired, over-worked muscles and sore joints. It is also useful for musculoskeletal problems such as back pain, arthritis and tendonitis.
This soothing massage gel has a fresh, herbal fragrance that is suitable for men and women. The lightweight formula is non-greasy and easily absorbed to leave the skin feeling hydrated, soft and supple.
Massage into effected areas as and when required using an upwards direction towards the heart.
For added relief the gel can be applied under a hot or cold compress. Massage into the skin or apply a thick layer to some gauze and wrap around the problem area, then apply heat or ice as appropriate:
- The general rule is to apply ice to an acute injury (i.e. one that has recently occurred), or any injury that shows signs of inflammation.
- Heat is best for sore joints and muscles that are typical of chronic injuries (i.e. those that have developed over a period of time).
- Heat can be applied to chronic injuries before exercise to loosen and relax the area, but ice should be applied afterwards to discourage pain and swelling.
The massage gel can be kept in the fridge for an extra-cooling effect. Alternatively apply the gel to pieces of gauze and pop in the freezer for ready-made cold compresses.
